Steeple, Robert
1765 – 23 May 1845
Born at Winster to John and Sarah. A farmer at Shirley Hall and husband of Sarah (née Parton). Father of Daniel, Robert, Elizabeth and John. As lay impropriator he received 10s. (50p) a year rent charge in lieu of tithes. Owned and rented out a property in Winster.Along with others he signed a declaration to uphold the rule of law that was published in the Derby Mercury in 1793.
In 1834 he was involved in a court case involving rights of way.
He has a memorial on the wall of the south aisle of the church.
