ASHBOURNE
On Tuesday last a remarkable incident took place in the Market-place. Mr. Strong, of Shirley, was driving a horse and cart, when, opposite Mr. Britton's, Ironmonger, the horse backed on to a table that stood opposite the shop, containing a collection of water filterers, upsetting the table, and smashing the whole of them. The horse then sprang forward, and dropped down dead. It was not a very valuable animal, being old, and we hear it had been through the Crimea War.

He was fined for being drunk
