ASHBOURNE
PETTY SESSIONS, Saturday.— [Before R. H. Frank, Esq., C. B. Kingdom, Esq., and Captain Goodwin.]— Thomas Strong, of Shirley, was summoned, at the instance of the police, for being drunk when being in charge of a horse and cart, at Ashbourne, on the 13th of August.— On the day in question the defendant was riding in his cart in the market-place, and when opposite Mr. Britton's shop the horse backed the cart against several filters, which were in front of the shop exposed for sale. The articles were broken, and the horse fell down and died instantly. The defendant was drunk at the time.— Fined 5s. and 16s. 6d. costs.
