Walker, Charles

23 June 1803 – 23 November 1869

A land owning farmer of over 100 acres at Shirley Lodge. Son of Joseph Walker and Hannah Bowman. Born in Bucknall Hollow, Belper. Died in Shirley.

On his way back from Derby market in 1827, he helped save a four year old boy who had fallen down a well somewhere near Kirk Langley as reported in the Leicester Chronicle.

After his death, his livestock, carriages &c were sold at auction in November 1870 by his executors Joseph Massey, of Shirley Old Park and Francis Osborne, of Brailsford
