Ellis, Walter James
1886 – 29 July 1954
Formerly of Shirley. In 1911 he was a chauffeur at Ladyhole House,Yeldersley. Latterly a haulier with partner Edmund Yates. The partnership split up in 1927 and Walter moved to Hartington where he was a haulier (with his brother Bert). He's buried in Hartington.Served in the Army Service Corps (Mechanical Transport) (#136951) and is listed on the European War (WWI) Roll of Honour.
He married Winifred 20 Nov 1912. There were three three children, Doris, Walter and Kenneth. Doris lived in Shirley for many years, Walter (Cop) lived in Brailsford and Kenneth retired to Shirley.
