SHIRLEY WEDDING
Much interest was shown by the Shirley residents in the pretty wedding that took place at St. Michael's church on Monday last when the bride was Miss Esme Evelyn Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wood, Sunny Bank, Shirley, and the bridegroom was Mr. Ralph Warner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Warner of Mill Lane, Shirley.
The ceremony was conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. F. J. Law. Escorted by her father, who gave her away, the bride wore a dress of white figured taffeta, with a headdress of orange blossom, and carried a shower bouquet of pink roses. Her three attendants were Miss Joan Yeomans (friend and chief bridesmaid), Miss Barbara Dickenson (cousin)and Miss Ann Tomlinson, and they attired in white taffeta with white spotted net over headdresses of anemones, and each carried a shower bouquet of anemones. The bridegroom's brother, Mr. Fred Warner, discharged the duties of best man. Mr. W. Glover presided at the organ which led the singing of the three hymns, "The Voice that breathed o'er Eden", "Love Divine all loves excelling," and "O Perfect Love".
