CANON COOPER LEAVING BELPER
Canon J. A. Cooper, former vicar of St. Peter's, Belper, and of Darley Abbey, is leaving his home at Spencer Road, Belper, next month to live in Prestatyn. Now aged 89, Canon Cooper became vicar of St. Peter's in 1913. In 1925 he was appointed Rural Dean of Duffield, was Honorary Canon of Heanor in Derby Cathedral from 1928 and became vicar of Darley Abbey in 1930. He retired six years later because of ill health, but from 1943 to 1945 was vicar of Shirley, near Ashbourne.
