The Old Farmhouse

Originally known as Derby Lane Farm, it's now a private residential dwelling.

The lower part of the building is believed to date from the 16th century, however, externally this appears to be of 18th or 19th century date. The house was extended in 1793 (date inscribed in brickwork on the west elevation) and raised in height in the 1830s.

When Peter van Hamel bought it in 1966 the business part of the farm had electricity but the house didn't.

Need to confirm that "The Old Farmhouse on Derby Lane was originally three small two story cottages which were built in the 1500s and a third story was added in 1793 . The entire building is now one family home although there are still two sets of stairs and one cellar, the other has been filled in to ground level."
