Gadsby, Samuel George
1879 – 1958
Born in Shirley to John and Elizabeth Gadsby. Attended the National School commencing October 1887. Previously attended Idridgehay school. The 1901 census has him working as a gardener at Osmaston Manor.He married Mary Helen Wheeldon at Shirley 1908 while living at Eggington.
In 1911, he was living in Spondon as a gardener with Mary and their son George William. He enlisted to the 274th Mechanical Transport Company in 1917.
By 1939 he was working as a railway chauffeur for the LMS railway.
