Born in Kirk Langley to Thomas and Elizabeth and formerly of Foston, a farmer of 220 acres at Shirley Hall. Married Mary Smith in 1844 at Kniveton.Buried at Shirley with an estate worth less than £600. The remainder of his estate was sold at auction in March 1878.
