DOUBLE WEDDING AT SHIRLEY

A double wedding is a somewhat unique event in the annals of this parish, and a large company assembled in the church on Monday last to witness the marriage of Miss Harriett K. James to Mr. C. Thompson, of Rugby, and Miss Alice A. James to Mr. W. Sefton, of Camberley, Surrey. The two brides are the daughters of Mr. Abraham James, of Shirley, and were given away by their father. Both wore dresses of deep cream over pale blue material, with biscuit-coloured hats. The bridesmaids— Miss Thompson and Miss Edith James— were dressed in white, and wore wreaths of flowers. Mr. J. Salisbury, of Nottingham, officiated as best man to both the bridegrooms. The ceremony was performed by the vicar (Rev. W. R. Linton), and at its close the sun shone out brightly as the parties left the church, amid showers of rice and the good wishes of the onlookers. The following is a list of presents:—
