Derby Mercury - 24 April 1844

At Shirley, on Sunday last, was interred by the very Rev. Archdeacon Shirley, the remains of the late William Wheeldon, having left a widow and four children to lament his loss. He was followed to the grave by upwards of 40 members of the Order of Oddfellows. Ten pounds were presented to his widow, being the amount allowed for the interment of a deceased brother.
