SHIRLEY BRIDE
CEREMONY AT ASHBOURNE METHODIST CHURCH

Two Shirley families were united by a wedding at the Methodist Church, Church-street, Ashbourne, yesterday.
Mr. Herbert Collins Foster, of the Plateau, Shirley, was married to Miss Gladys Lydia Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Wood, of Rhode Hurst, Shirley.
The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. John Carrington and the late Mr. Robert Henry Foster, of Boulton, Derby. He is a nurseryman, well known in the Derby markets, and he is a member of Toc H.
The bride wore a white satin dress draped with Point de Paris lace and Louis XV bows of gold braid. She had a veil and an orange blossom wreath, and carried a sheaf of lilies.
The bridesmaids were Miss Vivian A. Wood, sister, and Miss Margaret Wade, bridegroom's cousin, who had lime green floral georgette dresses and carried pink carnations; and Miss Dorothy M. Wood, bride's niece, who had a dress of white georgette and silver leaves and carried a posy.
Mr. Percy Salt, of Grange House, Grange-street, Derby, was the best man. the service was choral, and was conducted by the Rev. Johnson Howden.
A reception was held at John Spencer's café, Ashbourne.
