FOOT AND MOUTH.
…An outbreak of foot-and mouth disease has occurred at the Hall Farm, Shirley, near Ashbourne, occupied by Captain W. Hall Groves, who, having noticed that seven or eight cows were not well called in Mr. Frank Prince, wetinary surgeon, of Ashbourne who diagnosed the disease. The matter was reported or Supt. Davies, of Ashbourne, who immediately communicated with the Ministry of Agriculture, and the veterinary inspector of the ministry visited the farm the same day, and confirmed the outbreak. There are 82 head of cattle and 32 pigs at the farm, and it is expected that at least 60 cattle (the remaining 22 being some distance from the homestead) and the whole of the pigs will be slaughted.
