DEATH OF MRS. CORFIELD, OF HEANOR.
On Tuesday, there passed away, at the age of 81½ years, after a short but trying illness, at Heanor rectory, a lady much respected in the diocese, in the person of Mrs. Corfield, the widow of the Rev. F. Corfield, who was rector of Heanor for 14 years, and afterwards, vicar of Shirley. Mrs. Corfield was a most active churchworker, and very vigorous up to a few months ago. Her funeral took place on Thursday at Shirley, where her husband was laid to rest, deeply respected by all who knew him, 23 years ago. Mrs. Corfield has had two sons rectors of Heanor (Rev. Conyngham Corfield, M.A., and Rev. Claude E. L. Corfield, M.A.) The latter has held the living (four churches and 14,000 people) 20 years. Two of her other sons, Rev. Ashley Corfield, M.A., vicar of lockholes, and Rev. Egerton Corfield, M.A., of the C.M.S., are clergymen. Mrs Corfield was the daughter of Geo. Channer, of Sutton, near London, an her nephew General Channer, V.C., was a well known Indian officer.
