MARRIAGE AT SHIRLEY
A marriage took place, on Dec 9th, at St. Michael's church, Shirley, at two o'clock, by the Rev. W. R. Linton, vicar, Mr. Samuel Normanshaw, of Park Farm, and Miss Mary Ann Elizabeth Gillman, of the Mount, Shirley. The bride word a pretty dress of ivory blue and hat to match, with a spray of orange blossom, carrying a large bouquet of lilliam aratums and white chrysanthemums on the shoulder. The two little nieces of the bridegroom wore sky blue and beaver hats, and carried pretty bouquets. The bridegroom's best man was his brother, Mr. W. Normanshaw. The church bells rang a merry peal until a late hour. A grand arch was erected at the entrance to the church, standing nobly under a brilliant sunshine. A party numbering upwards of fifty assembled at the Park Farm for breakfast, when the health of the bride and bridegroom was drunk with honours, and all enjoyed themselves immensley. The presents were numerous and most useful, and were as follows:— Handsome brass lamp, by Shirley choir; dinner service, tea service, toilet service, looking glass, teapot, travelling clock, timepiece, half-dozen tumblers, six wine glasses, twelve tumblers, six wine glasses, glass dish, butter dish, celery glass, pair flower baskets, pair vases and tobacco pot, shaving set, set of gold studs and links, pair hand paintings, set of jugs, six tea spoons, teapot, six table knives, meat and game carvers, cheese dish, cream jug, lace tablecloth, cream jug, pair of ornaments, biscuit box, six tea spoons, two gravy spoons, glass dish, blotting book, copper kettle, pair photograph frames, large fern and vase, Bible and volumes of the late Rev. Linton's sermons, cheque, pair vases &c.
