SHIRLEY
CHOIR TRIP.— On Saturday last, through the kindness of the Rev. W. R. and Mrs Linton, the church choir, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs Linton and their friends, had their annual trip, which was this year to Buxton. They were met at Shirley vicarage with conveyances from the Green Man Hotel, Ashbourne, at 8 a.m., and after a pleasant drive arrived at Buxton about 12.15 p.m. After a short time in Buxton, they were entertained with a sumptuous luncheon at the Shakespeare Hotel which was done full justice to. They then had a pleasant ramble through Buxton, admiring the hotels and different buildings, and then visited the cavern, which was very interesting, and much appreciated. The museum also received the attention of the party, who afterwards proceeded to the gardens, and spent a very enjoyable time there listening to the organ recital, watching the skaters on the rink, &c. From thence they returned to the Shakespeare Hotel, where a very. comfortable tea was awaiting them, after partaking of which they re-entered the conveyances, and started on the homeward journey, arriving at Shirley Vicarage at 10 p.m. The weather has been most propitious, and the outing was one of thorough enjoyment to all the party.
