JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS IN DERBYSHIRE
OSMASTON BY ASHBOURNE
On Tuesday, Sir Andrew Barclay Walker, Bart., eentertained his tenantry and the workmen of the parishes of Osmaston, Shirley, Yeldersley, Wyaston, Ednaston, and Rodsley at the manor. A service was held in the church, and a dinner was given, of which about 500 partook. Tea followed, to which about 700 sat down. A programme of sports, consisting of 23 events, was provided, for which the prizes were all given by Sir Andrew Barclay. Sir Andrew, as a lasting memorial of the Jubilee, has beautified the chancel of the church by re-laying the floor with tesselated pavement in chaste mosaic work. The inside of the roof has been beautifully painted, and new Oak stalls have been erected. The windows in the chancel are of stained glass, the East window presenting a series of Biblical figures.
