SHIRLEY
CONCERT.— On Wednesday, the 28th, ult., an attractive and very successfully rendered concert took place in Shirley Schoolroom. The programme contained some capital songs, which were sung with great spirit, and were very highly appreciated. Unfortunately the weather was most unpropitious, the rain descending in torrents, and the night being very cold. Many were thus unwillingly debarred from enjoying a real musical treat, of the kind which must very seldom fall to the lot of those dwelling in a country parish. The vocalists comprised the following ladies and gentlemen:— Miss Anson (Longford Rectory), Mrs Egerton Corfield and Miss L. Corfield (Shirley Vicarage), the Misses Hey (Brailsford Hall), Miss Kingdon (Ednaston Lodge), Rev. R. L. Barnett, Rev. F. Brock, and Mr. Heber Dale. Mrs Anson presided at the piano. During the interval the Vicar referred to the inclemency of the weather, and expressed his hearty thanks to those who had so kindly come so far on such a terrible night to give pleasure to others and help a good cause. The following is the programme:—SHIRLEY
