Derby Mercury - 29 December 1847

INSOLVENT DEBTORS COURT, DERBY.
County Hall, 24th Dec., 1847.
[Before Joseph Thomas Caktrell, Esq., Judge.]
. . .
William Rix, late of the Cross Keys, Market-place, Derby, innkeeper, presented his petition for protection. In this case Mr. Saint George Smith, of Derby, Solicitor, was intrusted by two of the creditors to oppose the reception of the petition. It appeared that the insolvent had left Derby about three months back, and had gone to reside at Shirley. There was, therefore, no continued residence for six months, as required by the act of parliament The Court held the objection fatal and dismissed the petition.
