CONDITIONS IDEAL FOR PLOUGHING
CONDITIONS for ploughing ' were ideal at Brailsford and District Ploughing and Hedge-cutting Society's 45th annual competition and show, held on Shirley Common Farm, Shirley, to-day. The light soil had drained well after recent rain and was in good condition when horse ploughing began shortly after 9 a.m.CONDITIONS IDEAL FOR PLOUGHING
Entries in the ploughing classes were "exceptionally good," according to Mr. H. Fitchett, the Society's secretary. The 17 entries in the horse ploughing section compared well with those in recent years and with the number at similar competitions in other parts of the county.
The tractor ploughing attracted 54 entries —also a good figure.
The number of hedge-cutting competitors was restricted by the shortage of hedges available. Entries were: Labourer, 17; champions, 15; youths, ten.
