At the Green Man Hotel, Ashborne, on Moday, the 19th day of September, 1898, at 4 for 5 o'clock p.m. prompt, subject the the Common Form Conditions of the Derby Law Society, and such special conditions as they may be read:—VERY VALUABLE FREEHOLD MESSUAGE, FARMHOUSE, BUILDINGS, COTTAGE, and FIVE CLOSES of LAND,

All that MESSUAGE or FARMHOUSE, with yard and garden, cowsheds, stable and usual farm buildings, situate at Shirley aforesaid, and in the occupation of Mr. Timothy Gelstharp. Together with the five closes of excellent Meadow and pasture land, surrounding the house, and containing in the whole twenty-one acres or thereabouts. Also all that cottage or dwelling-house and gardens, adjacent to the above property, and fronting to the road leading to Shirley Mill, in the occupation of Mr. William Harper.
The tithe on the land amounts to £1, and the land tax to 9s. 5d. The property which is bounded by a good road, and in a ring-fence, is extremely well situated, and adjoins the Shirley entrance to Osmaston Manor. It is admirably suited to anyone desiring to retire, or would make an excellent hunting box, being conveniently situated in the midst of the Meynell Hunt. It is distant about nine miles from Derby and four from Ashbourne, will be near to the Light Railway from Ashborne to Derby. The property is well watered and a valuable bed of coal under lie a portion of the same. The owner will, if desired, leave a portion of the purchase money on mortgage.
