1,000 CROWD SEE THRILLING POLO MATCH LEAD TAKEN IN LAST CHUKKER

Osmaston Manor Polo Tournament continued yesterday with a match beween Foston and Shirley, and a crowd of 1,000 was treated to a game of thrills surpassing even those provided on Monday.
Although at disadvantage on paper, with individual handicaps totalling only four against their opponents' six. Shirley started level and. in the sixth and final chukker, actually overhauled Foston, who had established a lead, to win by six goals- to five.

Foston: I, Major Leigh Newton (handicap 0); 2, Mr. A. David (2); 3, Major F. W. Byass (3); back, Col. Haray (I). Shirley: I, Mr. F. Wragg (0); 2, Mr. C. Boyd (0); 3, Captain D. Reid Walker (2); back, Mr. A. Grisar (2).
Mr. Lovegrove, of the Central India Horse, was the umpire.

DEFENCE ON TOP

Play for two chukkers was evenly contested, with defence work on top, and no sjcore was registered. In the third period, however, Major Byass and Major Leigh Newton both got through for Foston, Shirley replying through Mr. Grisar.
In the fourth chukker Foston went further ahead, Major Leigh Newton and Major Byass again scoring, and Shirley had to be content with another single by Mr. Wragg. They continued to attack in the fifth chukker, however, and reduced their deficit through Captain Reid Walker.
A tremendous spurt the last chukker brought Shirley well-deserved victory. dint of sound strategy and accurate shooting they scored three goals through- Mr. C. Boyd (2) and Mr. Wragg, to which Major Leigh Newton responded with one for Foston.
