Mellor, farmers, victuallers, The Saracen's Head

Prior to moving to The Saracen's Head, Thomas and Elizabeth lived and farmed at The Okeover Arms at Mappleton, Thomas farming and Elizabeth running the pub. After Elizabeth's death, Thomas William and Isabella took it on.

Thomas dies.

In 1891 the household had the widowed Elizabeth at its head with Thomas William, Annie, Ada Bowers, granddaughter of Elizabeth and their servant Frank Harrison.

1897
Elizabeth dies and the pub's licence is passed, temporarily, to Thomas William.

1899
Thomas William is listed as landlord and farmer in Kelly's Directory of Derbyshire.

1901 census
In 1901 the household consisted of Thomas William, his wife Isabella and their servants James Wymer, William Briggs and Catherine Smith.

Thomas Henry born.

1905
Hannah Elizabeth born.

1910
Thomas William dies aged 42.

1912
Isabella is listed as landlady in Kelly's Derbyshire Directory.

1914
They stop farming and sell off all the farming equipment.

1918
Thomas Henry writes to the Osmaston estate about their plan to close the pub to no avail

1953
Isabella dies aged 92.

1972
Thomas Henry dies aged 70.

1999
Hannah Elizabeth dies aged 94.
