ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.— Hannah Hill, of Shirley, wife of John Hill, was summoned for unlawfully cutting and wounding herself with a razor on the 1st inst.— The prisoner's husband, it appeared, had been in the habit of leaving her with someone whilst he went to work as his wife was a cripple. On the date named he omitted to leave her in the care of anyone. During the day a neighbour was attracted to the house by hearing knocking, and this person went into the house and found Mrs. Hill with blood on her throat. The latter asked for her husband to be sent for and this was done, when it was found she had cut her throat.— After hearing evidence from the police the charge was withdrawn upon a friend promising to look after her, and see she is not left alone.
