SHIRLEY a parish and village is nine miles Derby and five from Ashbourn. The houses which can, scarcely be said to compose a village, are scattered throughout the parish. Here is a small church under the patronage of the Earl of Ferrers. Shirley park in this parish a noted cover for foxes spreads of one hundred acres. The parish contain about 600 inhabitants including the townships STYDD aud YEAVELEY.
