Shirley Old Park

Is a working farm on Rodsley Lane.

Was it, like Derby Lane Farm, multiple properties? The Ashbourne Polling District Poll Books list both Dakin and Goodall there.

Sold by private treaty in 1827. It was in the possession of William Dakin.

In 1828 John and Ann Goodall were living there.

In 1831 it was on sale by private treaty and consisted of about 50 acres. It was in the possession of William Dakin and stayed on until 1857.

Joseph Pegge farmed there from 1841 till his death in 1857.

Thomas Copestake was dairy farming there in 1855.

In 1863 Samuel Dakin (son of William) had an auction of all his livestock, implements and carriages suggesting he was retiring from farming.

In 1871 it was being farmed by James Wainwright.

Between 1899 to 1912 it was being farmed by Charles Redshaw.

1917 saw William Brown senior sell up.
