ASHBOURNEPETTY SESSIONS, Saturday.— Before Captain Gladwin, Mr. C. B. Kingdon, Mr. H. C. Okeover, and Mr. C. W. Jervis Smith.
Robert Cresswell, of Shirley, farmer, was summoned for assaulting James Barker, one of his servant men, on the 5th inst.— It appears that some dispute had arisen between the parties, and the complainant had refused to work more than twelve hours a day, and refused to get up with the other men at a quarter-past five, when called. Defendant had threatened complainant once or twice, and on the morning in question went into the bedroom with a bucket of water, and when he refused to get up, threw it over him. Fined 2s. 6d. and costs.
