Derby Daily Telegraph - 28 March 1935

MORE than 8,000 people watched some excellent racing in ideal weather at the Meynell Hunt's annual point-to-point meeting held at Ednaston yesterday. The feature of the meeting was the brilliant finish to the Nomination Race for the Osmaston Cup—the principal event on the card. Mr. R. M. Peel (North Cheshire), riding his big chestnut gelding. Crusader Star, beat the favourite, Mr. J. V. Baillie's Hy. Brazil (Belvoir) by a neck, after the last named had led for almost the entire distance of three-and-a-half miles. Mr. T. R. Pearson, who rode in three of the five races, had a fall in the farmers' event. He was riding Mr. P. W. Foster's team. The horse pecked badly after mounting Shirley Hill, but Mr. Pearson returned smiling to the paddock none the worse for his spill.
