Bainbrigge, Eli (Person)

(1845 – 9 May 1915)

A butcher and born in Derby to John Bainbrigge and Rachael Hunt. He married Sarah Mould, daughter of Thomas Mould and Elizabeth. There were four children: Mary b. 1881, Arthur b. 1882, John b. 1885 and Hugh b. Sep 1890.

He appears in Kelly's Directory in the years 1895, 1899 and 1912.

1884He was elected lay representative, along with Mr. J. Jackson.
1885He was re-elected lay representative, along with Robert Cresswell, at the Vestry Meeting.
1888He was re-elected lay representative, along with Mr Howard, at the Vestry Meeting.
1891Some kids playing with matches torched a stack of hay of his. He was insured. The parish collected £20 15/6 towards rebuilding the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. He contributed 15/- (the third equal largest amount).
1901A bill, issued to Mr S. Taylor, for the period 3rd. October to 24th December came to £2 2s. 11d.
1905His daughter, Mary, married John Comley at St. Michael's church. He gave them a piano, bedroom suite and household linen for wedding presents.
1909Was called as a witness in case of theft when he innocently cashed a stolen cheque.
1915He died and his effects were auctioned.
