CORONATION SOUVENIRS FOR SHIRLEY
PARISH MEETING DISCUSSES CELEBRATIONS

Coronation souvenirs are to be purchased for more than 50 children in the parish of Shirley. This was decided at a parish meeting held in the village on Thursday October 16th, when it also agreed to organise collections and to hold a fur and feather whist drive in the schoolroom on December 20th. Many offers of prizes were received before the end of the meeting. A committee was formed and officials appointed to organise the celebrations in the village and suggestions for sports, firework display, and other entertainments were discussed.
